My Brothers,

I hope the month of April was good to all my Ionic Brothers! April was a good month for the Lodge. We initiated three new Entered Apprentices on April 29th. Our SW Taylor Basford sat in the East for the first time and did a great job conducting the EA Degree. Our District Instructor was very impressed with his performance. We will hopefully have a fourth candidate being initiated in the next couple weeks as a courtesy candidate at another lodge to be determined. We will begin working with our new Brothers on their EA catechisms and preparing (practicing) for a Fellow Craft Degree hopefully by early July or so. We will post the date as soon as we can, and we encourage everyone to attend and welcome our new Brothers.

On Saturday, June 26th at 12:00 PM, we will be having a Memorial and Dedication Luncheon for Brother W. W. “Bill” Gay at Ionic Lodge No. 101 F&AM. We will begin with lunch, then we will be dedicating a Memorial Display to Brother Gay in the Dining Hall. During the Dedication we would encourage anyone who wants to say a few words about how Brother Gay affected their life in a positive way, to do so. Afterwards we will go upstairs into the Lodge Room and extend Brother Gay Masonic Funeral Rights about the Alter which we were unable to do at his funeral because of COVID restrictions. We do have an elevator if you are unable to climb stairs.

Brother Gay was a beloved and generous member of Ionic Lodge and we are privileged to be able to honor him in this way. His family will be in attendance, so let’s all get together and show them how much Brother Gay meant to us and Masonry.

In closing, I know we are living in difficult times and tensions are high but we as Masons should always remember our Obligation made at our Sacred Alter and show the world how humans should treat each other. As always, “Be Excellent to each other!”
