Greeting Brothers,
This past month we celebrated our 125th Charter Day (Jan. 17, 1900)! Quite an impressive Masonic Lineage that Ionic has guarded and cultivated in Jacksonville for a quasquicentennial. Our Charter has hung on our wall in historic fashion, and we are working with the Grand Lodge to get it placed in their Masonic Vault for its survival. We will get a facsimile of it for the lodge room, knowing it is safely kept for prosperity. We are planning a Celebration for later this year and looking forward to seeing everyone there.
We also celebrated Brother Lonnie, grandfather of Brother Curtis, presenting him with his 40 Year Service Award. It is always great to dwell among Brothers, and it is extra special for men in the same family to practice Masonry together. Brother Curtis delivered an extremely moving message to his grandfather and the Craft. Congratulations again to Brother Lonnie for his many years of long and faithful service to the Fraternity.
In February, we have two Brothers standing Proficient for their Master Mason Catechism and one for his EA Catechism. Please come out and support them, and be a part of their Apron Presentation. The Craft will also be voting on the 2025 Budget and deciding on this year's Annual Charity. Reminder, Ionic will be hosting the DDGM and his Committeemen on February 20th for his official visit. Also, the Degree Team is diligently practicing for our Fellow Craft Degree on March 6th, two Brothers will be passed.
Finally with heavy hearts, Ionic Lodge assisted with Masonic Rights at the Funeral Service of Oceanview Lodge's Brother George "Poncho" Ferber. Brother Poncho was called to the Celestial Lodge Above by the Supreme Architect of the Universe and laid to rest January 20, 2025. Thanks to all the Brothers for stepping up and paying tribute to our Brother. Please remember his family in your prayers.
